I have been tending a few goals for many years, but these goals have never been concrete in terms. My ultimate goal is to become a businessman. Back home (in Bangladesh), I had to decide what I want to study when I was moving to 9th grade. I always liked to be my own boss. So, I have decided to study business (commerce) in hopping that that will lead me to start my own business. My other goals are intertwined with becoming a businessman.
First of all, I will get a decent paying job after I finish my undergraduate. My goal is to save up to 20% of my net income. I will visit as many countries as possible to get first hand experience. By the way, I love traveling. I will try to get a job in an American company that operates in foreign countries (especially in India) which will help me save money (as an expatriate). As of right now, I am not sure about doing my masters, but I will definitely take some courses time to time just to keep up with the trends.
As most people in the world, I will have my own family by the time I hit thirty—you know what I am implying. I believe family is important in once life. It requires commitment to bond a family which is crucial pursuing any agenda. On the other hand, family renders stability, patience, integrity in a person’s life which are crucial in once life to succeed.
In my 40s when I feel that I have enough capital and experience to operate a business I will start my own business. As I mentioned earlier that “my goals are not concrete in terms;” I don’t yet know what kind of business I will do. Hopefully, time and situation will tell me what to do.

Hi Shazibul:
I'm so glad that you have such a dedicated set of goals that you wish to accomplish and it seems like its on a time line.{which is a good thing} Its sometimes difficult to adjust to different expectations that we are subjective to when coming from other countries. You are very fortunate to have known since you were in the 9th grade what you wanted to be when you got older.
Your vision of being a successful business man is not as far fetch as you think. I have very good friends that have come from other countries and before the age of 28 they are successful business men and woman of large companies. Of course i understand that everyone is different and everyone follows their own beat, but experience and knowledge we learn it by choice and in everyday life. I think your vision of being that "boss" could be something that will transitionally happen sooner than you think. Remember that your vision can only be your pride and joy if you keep focus and never lose track of what is most important to you. Obstacles will try to stop you in your tracks but remember that you have the tool to stop them which is your drive and dedication . Good luck. <*>
You have a strong Indian connection, which is great. There are so many business opportunities now with India offering many valuable services, and a new India in demand of the products we use here in America and Europe. I used to have an Indian roommate and she really takes advantage of the fact that she can have her roots and clients in India but make a good salary here in New York. She has now bought an apartment in Bangalore, some land for coffee production, all with her own money and lives a good life here in Manhattan with her husband. She's only 27! Since you are from Bangladesh you have already an advantage. As with any Indian and Bangladesh friend I have, family is always highly emphasized. They have so many cousins that I can't keep track. I absolutely agree that the stability and satisfaction a family can give you is one of the most important things in life. Since you love traveling, you could explore the world for a while before you settle and have a big family. I wish you good luck with your business, whatever you choose it to be!
you seem to have everything that you want set. the fact that you are still rooted in india is great and definitely an advantage for you. the fact that you knew what you wanted to do since you were in 9th grade is terrific because that means everything that you have done thus far is towards your goal, sort of like youve had a head start hahaha who knows, maybe you'll be able to start that business sooner than you think..
You are the third person's blog that I read said travel to as many as countries as they could is one of their goals. Personally, I love traveling too. This year, I have already plan to go to study abroad in Shanghai for a semester to help me expand my vision in China. I never been to Shanghai and I never travel alone. I hope to learn to be more independent in this trip and improve my mandarin. I also hope that I can meet more people from different schools attending the study abroad progrm. If you love to travel, probably you should also consider joining the study abroad program to different countries. You can learn and travel at the same time.
Being a boss and own your own company are always a good idea if you don't like to work for others. But as you know, owning your own company requires a lot of money and it has a lot of risk. If you really want to start your own business, I would suggest you to open a business that you are familiar with. Since you still don't know what kind of business you want to do, I will say that you can try to work in different fields to find your interest in opening your business. Good luck and hope you success in your future!
I like the way you planning your goal. It is good that you plan to save 20% of your net income. This task is pretty hard for most of the people, but the person who can do it will be more financial stable than the others in the future. I also like that you want to go to an international business so you can have a chance to get promote to be a supervision in your home country. It was a great idea to think this way. I also think family is really important for everyone, because family is the one that always back you up and support you. I hope your goal of opening a new business will be success in the future.
We pretty much share some of the same goals. For example, starting a family before 30 and traveling to many countries. I think your dream of starting your own business is great. And it is crucial that you understand creating a business takes years of preparation and commitment. But the benefits are worth it. Like being your own boss and having the liberty to set your own pace at work. Do you have any business ideas in mind?
lol, i feel like your goals are so much more thought out/detailed than mine! but that's a good thing. your visions seem to be very attainable and the fact that you know exactly what you want makes me feel like you're just that much closer to achieving them.
Although your goals are not that concrete, you seem quite determined to achieve them all, and that's what matters!!! You even have a "mental timeline" of what will be happening in every stage of your life. Also, nothing is set in stone and it's important to remain flexible, so you shouldn't worry that you're not 100% sure of your plan. As to the most important goal for you right now, I'd say it's getting a decent paying job, and saving 20% of your net income: I really liked that you actually quantified what portion of your income you will save. Believe it or not, but by doing so, you are more likely to actually do so!!!
It sounds like you know what you want to do, you just don’t know how you’re going to get their. But not to worry, alot of college students haven’t even gotten that far yet. I think your right in that you'll find your niche in business as you put your name out there and essentially "get your feet wet". I also think you make a good point when it come to starting a family and gaining stability. I personally want to have a family someday, but only after I have achieved a certain amount in my business career. You cant build a house unless you have a solid foundation.
